General Filaments

3D printer filaments are essential raw materials used to create models via Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM). Four of the common types are PLA, PLA+, ABS, and PETG. PLA (Polylactic Acid) is a biodegradable, eco-friendly filament, ideal for hobbyists due to its easy-to-print nature. PLA+ is an advanced variant of PLA, offering stronger bonding and enhanced durability in the printed product, without compromising the ease of use. ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene) is highly durable and heat-resistant, making it a popular choice for commercial and engineering applications. However, it can be slightly trickier to print with due to its high printing temperature. PETG combines the ease of PLA with the strength of ABS, offering high durability, good flexibility, and chemical resistance, making it increasingly popular for both hobbyists and industrial applications. Each filament type serves specific use cases based on their characteristics.
